Circular Economy

Waste-to-Craft Workshops

Transforming plastic waste into valuable crafts — pairing circular economy principles with community skills and income generation.

In collaboration with Feyraan Craft House, CLEAN Maldives runs hands-on workshops that transform plastic waste into valuable crafts — promoting a circular economy and reducing single-use plastics at the community level.

The workshops bring together participants to learn how waste materials can be reimagined as craft products, giving plastic a second life and demonstrating that environmental action and economic opportunity are not mutually exclusive. By pairing creative skills with sustainability education, the programme builds lasting awareness and practical capability.

The Waste-to-Craft initiative reflects CLEAN Maldives' conviction that community-led approaches — rooted in local culture and craft traditions — are among the most effective ways to shift attitudes and behaviours around waste. Participants leave not only with a product, but with a changed understanding of what "waste" means.
