What is CLEAN Maldives? +
CLEAN Maldives is a community-led environmental NGO founded in 2019 and registered in the Republic of Maldives (Reg No. CR/18/2019). We work to protect the Maldives' islands and oceans through community engagement, education, research, advocacy and sustainable action. CLEAN stands for Climate, Land, Environment, Air and Nature — the five pillars that guide everything we do.
How can I volunteer? +
We welcome volunteers from across the Maldives and beyond. You can sign up by visiting our Contact page and sending us a message expressing your interest, the skills you bring and any programs you'd like to support. We'll get back to you with current opportunities — from beach clean-ups and reef monitoring to workshops and school outreach.
How do I become a member? +
Membership is open to anyone who shares our vision of a cleaner, more sustainable Maldives. To apply, reach out to us at info@cleanmaldives.org or through our Contact page. As a member you'll receive updates on our campaigns, invitations to events and the chance to shape CLEAN Maldives' direction.
How can I donate or support your work? +
Financial support helps us run clean-up campaigns, environmental education programmes and policy advocacy. To discuss how you can contribute — as an individual, a company or a resort — please contact us at info@cleanmaldives.org or call . All donations are directed toward environmental programmes and operational costs.
Where in the Maldives do you work? +
Our activities span many atolls across the country. We have run programmes and clean-up campaigns in Malé (including Maafannu), HA. Dhidhdhoo, Laamu Atoll, Baa Atoll, Faafu Atoll, Kaafu Atoll and beyond. We are always looking to expand our reach — if you'd like CLEAN Maldives to come to your island or atoll, get in touch.
How can my company or resort partner with you? +
We collaborate with businesses, resorts and government bodies on joint campaigns, sponsorships, corporate volunteering days and sustainability initiatives. Can schools and children take part? +
Absolutely — youth engagement is central to our mission. We run school workshops, environmental awareness sessions and student volunteer programmes designed to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards. Teachers and school administrators are encouraged to contact us to arrange a session or activity for their students.
How are donations and funds used? +
All funds received by CLEAN Maldives go toward running environmental programmes (clean-ups, education, reef monitoring), covering materials and equipment, supporting community outreach and sustaining our operations. We are committed to transparency and responsible stewardship of every contribution we receive.
